Overview

Rosewood Mayakobá is a luxury retreat situated along a mile of white-sand beach on the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The resort covers many small islands surrounded by a mangrove jungle at the heart of the ecological enclave of Mayakobá. Using indigenous materials such as Yucatán limestone and renewable woods, the design emphasizes chic simplicity. The spa, on a private island, surrounds a cenote, or natural limestone pool, fed by subterranean springs and the beach offers Caribbean blue water and borders the second largest coral reef in the world. Guests have access to all features of the Mayakobá property, including the championship 18-hole Greg Norman golf course and lectures on ancient Mayan culture and the Yucatán ecosystem.

Spa

The spa is designed as a retreat-within-a-retreat. Guests cross a bridge, called the Puente del Balneario, to reach the private spa island. The spa's interior spaces open to gentle breezes and stunning natural environment of the jungle. Comprising 17,000 square feet, the spa space includes 12 treatment rooms and eight spa suites, designed for those guests who desire a pure wellness experience. The design centers around a cenote, a natural limestone pool fed by the subterranean springs that flow throughout the Yucatán. The spa menu features therapeutic treatments using indigenous ingredients made from local plants such as aloe and agave cactus. Spa facilities, which are separate for men and women, include therapeutic plunge pools, steam grottos, saunas, and experiential showers. Outside, the spa has a meditation platform, pool and relaxation deck with refreshments on hand.
