Know the North.
Venice. Milan. The Lakes. Verona. The Dolomites.
Northern Italy isn't one trip. It's cities, lakes, mountains, and wine country, and knowing what to pair, how to route it, and what belongs in between is where the itinerary comes together.
Ski the Dolomites in winter. Hike them in summer. Pair the mountains with Venice. Build Milan into Lake Como. Connect Verona with Garda and Franciacorta.
Timing and planning context
Knowing what to pair, when to go, and how to route it is where the itinerary comes together.
And for winter travel, the conversation starts early. Ski season in the Dolomites typically begins in December and can extend into spring, with Christmas and New Year's among the most inventory-constrained periods.
UJV Europe is your partner on the ground in Italy, helping you connect the right places, properties, experiences, and logistics into one seamless itinerary.
You know the client. We know the experience.
They've done Italy. They haven't done all of it.
Rome. Florence. Amalfi. Your clients know the names.
Northern Italy gives you another conversation.
Pair Venice with Cortina or Val Badia. Verona with Val Gardena, Alpe di Siusi, or Madonna di Campiglio. Milan with Lake Como. Build Garda into wine country. The right combinations can turn a familiar destination into a completely different trip for the client who thinks they've already done Italy.
But knowing the North is about more than knowing what connects. It's knowing which part of Lake Como makes sense for the itinerary, because Lake Como isn't one destination..
Then there's the routing. Venice runs on water. The Dolomites require road transfers into the valleys. Two places that look close on a map don't always make sense together.
The difference isn't simply knowing where to stay. It's knowing where to go, what to do, when to go, and how it all connects.
The expertise behind the route
That's where UJV Europe comes in.

City. Lake. Mountains. Wine country.

The Dolomites
For the client who thinks they've done Italy.
The Dolomites change the Italy conversation completely.
Skiing in winter. Hiking and time outdoors in the warmer months. Alpine villages, serious food and wine, and mountain hotels that can make the stay as active or restorative as the client wants. For repeat Italy travelers, active couples, families, and multigenerational groups, the question isn't simply whether to add the Dolomites. It's which part of the Dolomites makes sense for the trip.
Coming from Venice? Look east toward Cortina d'Ampezzo, Brunico, and San Cassiano. These areas connect naturally with Venice and give you several ways to build the mountain portion around the client, from Cortina's skiing and social scene to the landscapes and villages of South Tyrol and Alta Badia.
ROUTING IDEA: Venice → Cortina d'Ampezzo → Brunico / San Cassiano
Coming from Verona? Look toward Ortisei and Alpe di Siusi, or continue west toward Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio for a different Dolomites experience. Ortisei and Alpe di Siusi put clients within the Val Gardena area, with strong access to skiing in winter and hiking in the warmer months. Pinzolo gives clients access to the Madonna di Campiglio ski area without requiring them to stay directly in Madonna di Campiglio. From Pinzolo, gondola connections provide access into the larger ski network and some of the area's best-known slopes.
ROUTING IDEA: Verona → Ortisei / Alpe di Siusi
OR GO FARTHER WEST: Verona → Pinzolo / Madonna di Campiglio

UJV Europe can coordinate the private transportation, timing, luggage, experiences, and onward logistics as part of the full itinerary. UJV Europe handles the details between destinations.
Milan
Don't treat Milan like an airport.
For the right client, Milan deserves more than an arrival night. Beyond fashion and design, the city has real cultural weight. Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper, one of the experiences our clients request most, is reason enough to plan ahead. Add Brera, Villa
Necchi, Castello Sforzesco, an evening at Teatro alla Scala, and aperitivo along the Navigli, and two or three nights fill quickly. It's also one of the North's most useful gateways. Pair Milan with Lake Como for an easy city-and-lake itinerary, or use it as the starting point for Piedmont, Franciacorta, Verona, the western Dolomites, and beyond.

Piedmont
For the client who has already done Tuscany, take the wine conversation north. Turin is one of Northern Italy's best-kept secrets: an elegant former royal capital with grand boulevards, Savoy palaces, historic cafés, and an Alpine backdrop, without the crowds of Italy's better-known cities. It's also a destination for clients who travel for food and culture. Turin is the capital of Italian chocolate, home of gianduiotto and historic bicerin cafés, and its Museo Egizio holds one of the world's most important collections of Egyptian antiquities. From here, continue into Piedmont's wine country for Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, and a completely different take on the Italian countryside.l.

A restored 16th-century Dominican monastery in the rolling Monferrato hills, offering a quieter alternative to the better-known Langhe. The two-Michelin-starred Locanda del Sant'Uffizio and panoramic Aquanatura Spa make it as much a destination for dining and wellness as for the surrounding wine country.
Fly into MXP or LIN and let Milan open the itinerary. From here, Lake Como is an easy choice, but it isn't the only one. Continue by rail to Verona or Venice, head west into Piedmont, or build a less expected route from Turin toward Genoa and the Italian Riviera.
UJV Europe can connect the transportation, timing, luggage, experiences, and onward logistics around the route that makes the most sense for the client.
Lake Garda
One lake. Very different ways to experience it.
Lake Garda is much more than a slower stop between Verona and the Dolomites. Sirmione brings a medieval fortress and history to the southern shore. Limone sul Garda is known for its cliffside lemon groves. Salò and Gardone Riviera pair elegant waterfronts with the eccentric Il Vittoriale degli Italiani.
Farther north, the landscape becomes more dramatic around Riva del Garda, while Malcesine brings its castle and mountain backdrop. And sometimes the best way to understand Garda is from the water. Hydrofoils, ferries, and private boats connect towns across the lake and reveal villas, gardens, and landscapes you won't experience from the road.
Then layer in everything around it: hiking and water sports, resort stays and wellness, Valpolicella to the east, Franciacorta to the west, and the Dolomites within the broader route. For clients who want water, wine, culture, and time outdoors, Lake Garda can become a reason for the itinerary, not simply a stop between destinations.

Franciacorta & Lake Iseo
If the client knows Champagne, introduce them to Italy's answer to traditional-method sparkling wine. Franciacorta is a small wine region of rolling hills, historic estates, monasteries, and vineyards between Milan and Lake Garda. Its Franciacorta DOCG wines are made using traditional bottle fermentation, with producers including Ca' del Bosco, Bellavista, and Barone Pizzini giving serious wine clients plenty of reason to stay rather than simply taste and leave. Then add Lake Iseo. Private boats, historic villages, Monte Isola, and classic Riva experiences bring another dimension to the stay beyond the vineyards. Franciacorta also fits naturally into the broader North. Pair it with Milan and Lake Garda, continue toward Verona, or use it as part of a route north into the Dolomites, particularly toward Pinzolo, Ortisei, and Alpe di Siusi.

L'Albereta Relais & Chateaux
ERBUSCO · FRANCIACORTA
A 19th-century villa surrounded by vineyards in the hills above Lake Iseo, owned and operated by the Moretti family behind neighboring Bellavista winery. Its deep connection to Franciacorta, combined with the Chenot Espace wellness program, makes it a destination for wine and wellness rather than simply a base for exploring the region.
Lake Garda and Franciacorta fit naturally into a route from Milan through Northern Italy. Pair the two for lake time, wine country, and Lake Iseo, then continue east toward Verona and Venice or north toward the Western Dolomites and Brenta Dolomites, including Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio. UJV Europe can coordinate the private transportation, rail, boats, experiences, and onward logistics around the route, connecting wine country, lake, city, and mountains into one itinerary.
Lake Como
They already want Como. Help them do it right.
You don't need to convince most luxury clients to go to Lake Como. The harder question is where on the lake to stay. Lake Como stretches across dozens of towns and villages, and where you place the client changes the rhythm of the entire stay.
Como and Cernobbio offer easier access from Milan. Tremezzina and Bellagio put clients in the heart of the classic mid-lake experience. Torno and Moltrasio offer a quieter sense of privacy. And once they're there, getting around is often a boat question, not a road question.
That's why the hotel should never be chosen in isolation. UJV Europe helps you match the property, location, experiences, and transportation to how your client actually wants to spend their days.

Lake Maggiore
Lake Maggiore isn't a substitute for Lake Como. It's a different lake experience entirely. Grand villas, centuries-old gardens, expansive parkland, and the Borromean Islands give it an aristocratic character all its own. Long favored by European royalty and writers, the lake offers a sense of space and privacy that can be especially compelling for clients who already know Italy but haven't discovered this part of the North. The Borromean Islands are reason enough to build time here, with baroque palaces, elaborate gardens, and some of the lake's most iconic views.

A historic estate combining a 19th-century Neo-Gothic castle and 18th-century Neoclassical villa, surrounded by parkland near Lake Maggiore. Owned and operated by the Dal Pozzo family, it gives clients a deeply personal stay rooted in the history of the region.
Lake Maggiore pairs naturally with Milan and opens another way to build Northern Italy, whether continuing into Piedmont, toward the western Dolomites, or across the North as part of a longer itinerary. UJV Europe can coordinate the private transportation, rail, boats, guides, and experiences around the route, bringing the pieces together from one stop to the next.
Verona
More than a stop between Milan and Venice.
Verona is a UNESCO World Heritage city with remarkably preserved medieval streets, historic defensive walls, Roman architecture, and the setting that gave the world Romeo and Juliet. The Arena di Verona is more than the city's most recognizable landmark.
Each summer, the ancient Roman amphitheater becomes the stage for one of the world's great open-air opera festivals. Add Juliet's House, the city's pink-marble streets and piazzas, and there is plenty here to build a stay around.
Verona also has a culinary identity all its own. Risotto all'Amarone brings together two of the region's signatures, local Vialone Nano rice and Amarone wine, while traditional dishes like bollito misto with pearà offer a taste of the cooking that has defined the area for generations. Then look at where Verona sits. Lake Garda is nearby.
Valpolicella is just outside the city. Venice lies to the east, Milan to the west, and the Dolomites to the north. For clients who came asking for the names they already know, Verona can become one of the places they didn't expect to love.

Owned by the family-led Duetorrihotels Group, its period antiques, Murano glass, historic frescoes, and panoramic rooftop preserve the old-world character that has made it a Verona institution.
Use Verona between Venice and Milan by rail, pair it with nearby Lake Garda, or continue north by private driver into the Western Dolomites and Brenta Dolomites, including areas such as Ortisei, Alpe di Siusi, Pinzolo, and Madonna di Campiglio.
UJV Europe can coordinate rail, station assistance, luggage, private transportation, and onward logistics so the route works as one connected itinerary.
Venice
No cars, no shortcuts, and the deepest experience portfolio in the North.
Venice doesn't work like anywhere else in Italy. There are no cars. Arrivals happen by water, whether by private water taxi or vaporetto, and the hotel drop-off isn't standard. Piers, canal entrances, luggage, and timing all work differently here.
That's exactly why UJV Europe as your partner on the ground matters. We help coordinate the arrival, water transportation, guides, tickets, private access, dining, and onward travel so the advisor doesn't have to piece together how Venice works behind the scenes. And Venice itself is only one part of a lagoon made up of 118 islands.
For the repeat client who says they've already done Venice, go deeper. Explore the lagoon and its islands. Build around food, art, craftsmanship, and private access. See the city after the day crowds leave.
With one of UJV Europe's broadest experience collections in Northern Italy, Venice can be as much about what lies beyond the obvious as St. Mark's, the Grand Canal, and a gondola.

Venice hotels
Each property booked end-to-end with air, transfers, rail, car rentals, and experiences coordinated by UJV’s Europe team.
Londra Palace Venezia
CASTELLO · VENICE
On the Riva degli Schiavoni facing the lagoon, a short walk from San Marco. Recently reworked, with lagoon-facing rooms and a strong restaurant.
Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel
GIUDECCA · VENICE
Gardens, an Olympic-sized pool, and a private launch running to San Marco around the clock. Space and resort amenities in a city that offers neither. The trade is the water crossing, which suits some clients and not others.
Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel
SANTA CROCE · VENICE
A Grand Canal palazzo with a private garden in quieter Santa Croce, away from the busiest parts of Venice. It's also home to GLAM, its prestigious two-Michelin-starred restaurant, making it an especially strong choice for clients who want a more intimate Venice stay with serious dining on property.
View More Properties
Ca' Sagredo Hotel
CANNAREGIO · VENICE
A 15th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, with frescoed public rooms and a Rialto-facing terrace. Historic in a way that reads as a museum, which is exactly the appeal for the right client.
Aman Venice
SAN POLO · VENICE
A 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal with original Tiepolo ceilings and two private gardens, which almost nothing in Venice has. The top of the market, and the property clients book the trip around.
The St. Regis Venice
SAN MARCO · VENICE
A prime Grand Canal address with views toward the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and an easy walk to Piazza San Marco. Butler service and a central location make it a strong choice for first-time Venice clients who want the city's icons close at hand.
Hotel Metropole Venice
CASTELLO · VENICE
A lagoon-facing property near San Marco, filled with an owner's collection of antiques and curiosities. Idiosyncratic rather than polished, which suits a returning client more than a first-timer.
Baglioni Hotel Luna
SAN MARCO · VENICE
One of Venice's historic luxury addresses, just steps from Piazza San Marco, newly reopened following an extensive refurbishment. Its frescoed ballroom and deeply Venetian character remain, now refreshed for a new chapter in the hotel's long history.
Cà di Dio
CASTELLO · VENICE
A former 13th-century pilgrims' hospice reworked by Patricia Urquiola, near the Arsenale. Contemporary and calm, in a residential stretch of Castello. Strong during Biennale years for its proximity to the Giardini.
Palazzo Giovanelli and Gran Canal
SANTA CROCE · VENICE
A restored palazzo with Grand Canal frontage, near the San Stae vaporetto stop. Smaller and quieter, and a practical canal-view placement at a gentler rate than the top tier.
Sina Centurion Palace
DORSODURO · VENICE
A Grand Canal address in Dorsoduro beside the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, with contemporary interiors behind a striking Gothic façade. A strong fit for art-focused clients, with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Accademia, and Dorsoduro's galleries close by.
Sina Palazzo Sant'Angelo
SAN MARCO · VENICE
A small palazzo directly on the Grand Canal, between the Rialto and the Accademia. Intimate, with a handful of canal-facing rooms. Book those specifically or the placement loses its point.
Violino d'Oro
SAN MARCO · VENICE
A small design-led property on a canal near San Marco, recently reworked with a contemporary Venetian palette. For clients who want central positioning in a boutique rather than a grand hotel.
Hotel L'Orologio Venice
SANTA CROCE · VENICE
A smaller Grand Canal property near San Stae, themed around watchmaking. Best used as a value placement or a shoulder-season option inside a longer itinerary.
Getting into Venice depends on how the client arrives. Fly into VCE and continue by water to the hotel. Arrive by rail and UJV Europe can coordinate the water transfer from Santa Lucia station. Arrive by car and the road ends at Piazzale Roma, where the journey continues by water. From Venice, continue by rail to Verona, with Lake Garda and Lake Iseo easily worked into the route from there. Or head north by private driver into the Eastern Dolomites, including Cortina d'Ampezzo, San Cassiano, and Brunico. UJV Europe can coordinate each transition, from airport, rail station, or Piazzale Roma to the hotel pier, and from Venice to the next destination, so the different pieces work as one itinerary.
Start with one destination. Build the North around it.
Choose the anchor
Start with the destination that gives your client the strongest reason to go.
Add the pair
Add a second region that brings something different to the trip.
Connect the trip
Bring the route, transportation, and timing together.
The routing approach
Northern Italy doesn't have to feel complicated.
Start with the destination that gives your client the strongest reason to go. That's the anchor.
Then add a second region that brings something different to the trip. That's the pair.
Milan and Lake Como for city and lake. Venice and the Eastern Dolomites for culture and mountains. Verona and Lake Garda for history, wine, and time on the water. Franciacorta and Lake Iseo for wine country and a lake experience many clients haven't discovered yet.
Then think about how they connect.
Milan to Venice works easily by rail. Milan to Lake Como is typically better by private car. Venice can lead into Verona by rail before continuing by private driver to Lake Garda, while the right Dolomites routing depends on which part of the mountains the client is visiting.
That's where UJV Europe comes in.
You know the client. We know the ground. Bring us the brief and we'll help you choose the right combination, build the routing, and coordinate the hotels, transportation, guides, experiences, and details from one stop to the next.
Compare the itinerary pairings
| Client | Anchor | Pair | Connected by | Nights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First-time Italy | Venice | Milan + Lake Como | Driver, Car Rental & Rail | 6 to 9 |
| Repeat Italy | Venice | Verona + Eastern Dolomites (Cortina, Treviso) | Driver & Car Rental | 9 to 11 |
| Repeat Italy | Venice | Verona + Western Dolomites (Brenta) | Driver & Car Rental | 9 to 11 |
| Wine-led | Verona | Garda + Franciacorta | Driver & Car Rental | 7 to 9 |
| Design and fashion | Milan | Lake Como | Private driver | 6 to 8 |
| Active or multigenerational | Dolomites | Lake Garda + Franciacorta | Private driver | 8 to 10 |
| Extended, three regions | Venice | Dolomites + Verona | Driver & Rail | 10 to 14 |
Verona works as a connector rather than a region. A single night there breaks up a transfer without adding a stop to the count.
10 Nights
Venice
Start with the icons, then go deeper with private access, local craftsmanship, or time out on the lagoon.
Dolomites
Choose the right mountain base for the route and the client, from active days outdoors to a more wellness-led stay.
Verona
Add a city they may not have considered, with the Arena, historic center, and Valpolicella within reach.
Lake Garda or Franciacorta
Finish with time on the lake, wine country and Lake Iseo, or build the final days around both.
The Dolomites have distinct seasons, with many hotels operating approximately May through October and December through March or April, depending on the property.
Peak winter dates require even more planning. During the Christmas and New Year period, specific hotels may require minimum stays, with seven-night minimums common over the holidays.
That means the itinerary above is a starting point, not a formula. Bring UJV Europe the dates and the client, and we'll help determine which mountain base, length of stay, and wider Northern Italy routing make sense for the trip.
You know the client. We connect the trip.
Northern Italy gets easier when one team is connecting the details from the first arrival to the final departure.
